BARBER (1200 Hours)
(Offered only at the Cutler Bay and Main Campus)
(48 weeks / Part Time)
Objective:
To prepare the student to be employed at the entry level in the Barbering fields and receive a Barber’s license. Students will also receive information about compensation package, payroll deductions and career information such as professional ethics, effective communication, and human relations.
Instructional Methods:
This course is taught in theory and practical methods. Instructors at our Beauty School in Miami, Florida will use blackboards, audio/visual aids, and demonstration materials.

This course provides knowledge and practice of all necessary techniques of hair cutting, such as taper cuts, fades, flat tops, and standard haircuts using scissor over comb, clipper over comb and freehand techniques. Students will also learn how to create different hair styles, including blow-drying. | |||

Student will learn about shampoo selection, proper techniques for shampooing and rinsing. They will practice on mannequins and work in the clinic under the supervision of the instructor. | |||

This course provides practice in all areas of shaving techniques, including softening of beard, application of massage creams and tonic. Students will also learn the different strokes and positions. | |||

This course provides knowledge and practice in the application of chemical services, which include coloring, bleaching, hair relaxing or permanents. Students will also learn cleansing with a suitable shampoo and massaging with hands or electrical appliance, such as electric steamer, infrared lamp, ultraviolet lamp, and thermal lamp. Practices are supervised by the instructor in the clinic. | |||

Program Description:
The Barber program will prepare you to obtain the knowledge and expertise necessary to work in a high-end traditional or modern barbershop/salon. This comprehensive program will provide you with the proper training in a variety of areas such as the following: cutting with shears, styling hair, modern fades, shaving techniques as well as chemicals (perms/relaxers) in order to offer clients an array of services including artistic designs using color combinations to name a few. After the completion of this exciting program, you will have the skills necessary to be a platform artist, become a celebrity barber, or work with the most competitive companies in the industry.
Grading Procedure:
Instructors will use tests, quizzes, and practical exams throughout the program in order to evaluate the student’s progress.
Graduation Requirements:
Students must complete all listed hours and services in addition to academic requirements and financial obligations to be considered a graduate and be awarded a Diploma.
